AKCESS First Semester Retrospective

Hey Kroeger Kids!

AKCESS and BPAPM had a very successful first semester, with events ranging from helping raise funds for the Adopt-A-Family program, to working as a team to help gather food supplies for the Carleton U Meal Exchange, to sitting back and letting loose at our karaoke nights, to putting forward a team for intramural dodgeball! Thanks to everyone who came out for our first semester events, we have plenty more coming up this semester!

Trick or Eat
Halloween 2009: Team AKCESS – dressed up as pirates – rocked the boat at this year’s Trick or Eat run by Carleton U’s Meal Exchange. We won a prize for most team fundraising, and most importantly also managed to collect a fantastic amount of food donations through our door-to-door collections! Thank you to everyone who participated for your enthusiasm and hard work!

Adopt-A-Family
This year, the fundraising efforts for our family of five were a huge success. We managed to raise over $500 to help a family in need during the holiday season. Thank you to all of you who volunteered for and supported our bake sales! A huge thank you also goes out to Professor Dornan, who grew a magnificent mustache, and to those of you who sponsored the now-infamous ’stache!

Karaoke Nights

AKCESS organized two karaoke nights this semester at Mike's Place, both of which were successful. BPAPM'ers from all different years ate, drank, sang, danced, and showed Mike's Place that BPAPM knows how to have a good time!

Dodgeball

BPAPM entered a team in the Carleton intramural dodgeball leauge first semester. It was a fun time for all involved, with the team scoring some big wins, and having lots of heated matches. BPAPM will be entering another team this semester, so make sure to follow along!

The Akcess Exec

President

Alex is a 4th year student in the Human Rights stream. She is originally from Mississauga, Ontario.

Ihor Korbabicz
VP Finance

Ihor Korbabicz is a 3rd year student in the Strategic Public Opinion and Policy Analysis stream.
Though he enjoys his life in Ottawa, he originally hails from the center of the known universe Toronto, Ontario. He writes his bios in third person because thats how they should be written, but has obviously written it himself, as he is not yet nor arguably ever will be important enough to have someone else do it for him. That said, Ihor like his coffee black, his beer thick and creamy, and is taking care of AKCESS' finances this year in his capacity as VP Finance.

Sara Demizio
VP Social

Sara Demizio is a fourth year student in the Human Rights specialization. She comes from Ottawa, but her family now lives in Fonthill, a town just outside of St.Catharines, ON. During her busy final semester in the program, she can be found doing her 47 361 weekly readings in the comfort of her snuggie, starting and finishing her HRE, or at taking the edge off at Mike's Place

Martha Chertkow
VP Policy and Academic

Martha is a third year student, originally from Montreal, Quebec, specializing in International Studies.

William Norman
VP Communications

William Norman is a fourth year student, with a specialization in Communication and Information Technology Policy. Originally from Mississauga, Ontario, William is proud to be a Kroeger Kid, and wants to use his experience in social media outreach (honed from working on over two dozen political campaigns) to make sure BPAPM'ers stay in the loop about all the great events going on in the College.

Sarah Czunyi
VP Community Outreach

Sarah is a fourth year BPAPM student, who is specializing in Development Studies. Sarah has always been actively involved in her community both at home in Tanzania and at Carleton University. This year, she is excited to bring her enthusiasm for community involvement to the Arthur Kroeger College, and is honoured to be the VP Community Outreach for our wonderful bunch of BPAPMers!
